On June 26th, 1917, the British navy trawler HMT Charles Astie was sunk by a mine from the German submarine U-79 (Otto Rohrbeck), northeast of Fanad Point, Lough SWilly (barrage 117b) while escorting the steamer Hartland from Tory Island to Inishowen. All 17 crew died.
