Additional Information: Son of Patrick & Catherine O’ Flaherty (nee Clancy) of Upper Dominick Street, Galway. Supplementary Notes: Award Distinguished Service Cross. Having been ordained he went to America and eventually ended up as a chaplain in the US army. He was Killed while attending to  wounded soldiers on the battlefield. Obituary, Argus Leader, Soux Falls South Dakota on 5 Nov 1918. Chaplains are commissioned officers and can obtain the rank of major general or rear admiral, they will never hold command.
